Overview

Join NewsUK as an Apprentice Social Media Assistant in London, where you will gain hands-on experience in the dynamic world of news broadcasting. This two-year apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to work with some of the UK’s biggest broadcasting brands while studying for an NCTJ Diploma in journalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clip, edit and publish content from shows, podcasts, interviews, and live broadcasts.
  • Write engaging headlines, captions, and posts for social media platforms.
  • Support producers with research, story ideas, and guest preparation.
  • Assist in studios or galleries during live shows and recordings.
  • Work with digital teams to plan and deliver social media campaigns.
  • Monitor analytics and audience engagement to understand what works best.
  • Stay across the news, sport, and current affairs agenda to spot stories and opportunities.
  • Help with administrative and planning tasks to support smooth broadcast operations.

Requirements

  • A keen interest in news, sport, and current affairs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A passion for broadcasting, radio, TV, and social media.
  • Creativity and curiosity with an eye for engaging stories.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • A positive attitude, flexibility, and a hunger to learn and develop.
