The Role
Orbit is recruiting a Digital & Social Media Manager on a 12-month fixed term contract. This role is responsible for supporting, driving and delivering programmes that enhance our digital experience across all audiences, and for developing and leading Orbit’s social media strategy and execution.
Key responsibilities include supporting the Social Media Officer in managing Orbit’s social and community platforms. This hands-on role aims to increase Orbit’s brand awareness and online perception, driving performance and impact through social media. The role is agile, based in our Coventry office approximately once per week, subject to business needs.
This position is part of the People and Strategy team, contributing to building a culture and brand that people want to be part of.
What You’ll Achieve
- Support the Digital Marketing & Communications Manager in delivering digital transformation programmes as part of an agile product ownership or project team.
- Deliver projects to agreed deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Provide ongoing support for Orbit’s digital platforms, including messaging services, customer portals, websites, social media and other owned media.
- Offer effective line management support to the Digital Marketing & Communications Manager to drive team performance and development, alongside day-to-day operational duties.
- Develop, execute and evolve channel-specific social media strategies in collaboration with the Social Media Officer.
- Align social media activity and results with Orbit’s key objectives, aiming to provide customers with one of the best social media customer experiences among Housing Associations.
- Stay informed of social media trends, algorithm changes and platform innovations to maintain Orbit’s strong social media presence.
- Identify and nurture customers and key target audiences on social media, turning them into community champions, advocates and superfans to amplify Orbit’s storytelling and support user-generated content.
- Collaborate with external partners, stakeholders, content creators and community voices to grow Orbit’s reach, relevance and credibility.
- Lead and drive content creation hands-on, including short format videos, photography and other social media assets.
- Use a 360-degree content framework, working with the Social Media Officer, subject matter experts, editorial leads and colleagues to uncover valuable storytelling content.
- Plan, manage, execute and optimise in-house paid social media activity (via Meta and LinkedIn) alongside the Social Media Officer to improve results and Return on Marketing Investment (ROMI).
- Create compelling ad assets, copy and creative content to maximise delivery against key objectives.
What You’ll Bring
Essential Skills- Experience working in a social media role.
- Outstanding understanding of social media channels including Meta, LinkedIn, X, Trustpilot and YouTube, as well as social media management tools and analytics.
- A strong passion for social media with a commitment to continuous learning about channels and evolving digital behaviour.
- Exceptional copywriting, editing and narrative/storytelling skills tailored for social media.
- Hands-on experience creating content, including planning shoots, capturing video footage or images, and editing using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or similar.
- Experience in a senior, assistant manager or manager role.
