Head Of Social Platforms
Job Description
Overview
The Head of Social Platforms is a senior, hands-on role responsible for overseeing the daily social content, publishing strategy, and performance of DMG New Media’s brands across all key platforms. This position focuses particularly on Instagram and TikTok, utilising all available platform tools. The role involves leading a team of Channel Managers to ensure channels are consistently active, culturally relevant, and optimised for growth. Collaboration with editors, creatives, producers, talent, and commercial teams is essential to maximise content performance and adapt to evolving audience behaviour.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Social Publishing & Execution
Own day-to-day publishing across all DMG New Media social channels. Set standards for posting cadence, format usage, captions, and optimisation by platform and brand. Ensure channels remain active, timely, and aligned with platform best practices. - Channel Leadership & Team Management
Lead and develop a team of Channel Managers responsible for individual brands or verticals. Set clear goals, priorities, and accountability for channel performance and growth. Provide editorial guidance, platform expertise, and decision-making support. Clarify ownership, escalation procedures, and daily decision-making processes. - Performance, Metrics & Optimisation
Own performance KPIs including follower growth, reach, engagement, watch time, saves, and shares. Establish regular reporting, review, and optimisation cycles. Identify underperforming content and channels, iterating or correcting course swiftly. Use insights to inform publishing, commissioning, and strategy. - Platform Strategy & Best Practice
Monitor platform changes, algorithm updates, and emerging features. Translate updates into practical guidance for channel teams. Champion new formats and behaviours that drive growth. Ensure platforms are used intentionally rather than uniformly. - Commercial & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with commercial teams to ensure channels are campaign-ready and meet client objectives. Support adaptation of editorial content into branded and commercial formats. Work closely with editors, producers, creatives, and talent to maximise social performance.
