Job Description

Contract: Full-time
Location: London, United Kingdom
Salary: Not Specified
Company: dmg media

Overview

DMG New Media is hiring a Head of Social Platforms to lead day-to-day publishing, performance, and execution across a large multi-brand network. This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for ensuring content is published at pace, optimised by platform, and consistently improving against clear performance KPIs. You will lead a team of Channel Managers (each aligned to a brand or vertical) and work closely with editors, producers, creatives, talent, and commercial teams to keep channels culturally fluent, operationally tight, and built for growth. The focus is particularly strong on Instagram and TikTok, using platform tools and formats to maximise reach, engagement, and retention.

The Role

You will own the daily publishing engine across DMG New Media’s social channels, setting standards for cadence, format mix, captions, and platform-specific optimisation. You will define and embed working rhythms for reporting and review, turning performance insights into fast iteration and clearer commissioning decisions. This position blends operational leadership with platform expertise: you will coach Channel Managers, remove blockers, make rapid judgement calls, and ensure content output stays aligned with shifting platform behaviours and algorithm updates. You will also partner with commercial stakeholders to ensure channels are campaign-ready and able to deliver branded activity without compromising platform-native performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily publishing and execution: Own day-to-day publishing across all social channels. Set standards for posting cadence, format usage, captions, packaging and platform optimisation by brand and channel.
  • Channel leadership and team management: Lead and develop Channel Managers, setting clear goals, priorities, and accountability for growth and performance. Provide editorial judgement, platform guidance, and clear escalation paths for fast decisions.
  • Performance and optimisation: Own core KPIs including follower growth, reach, engagement rate, watch time, saves, and shares. Establish a consistent rhythm of reporting, review, and action. Diagnose underperformance quickly and drive iterative improvements.
  • Platform best practice and strategy: Stay close to algorithm shifts, feature releases and platform changes. Translate updates into practical guidance and playbooks. Drive adoption of new formats and behaviours that unlock growth.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with editors, producers, creatives and talent to maximise performance and ensure output remains culturally fluent, timely and scalable.
  • Commercial partnership: Partner with commercial teams to ensure channels are campaign-ready and support client objectives. Shape editorial content into branded formats where required while maintaining platform-native integrity.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years’ experience in social media, digital publishing, or platform-led content roles.
  • Proven track record managing and growing large social channels, especially on Instagram and TikTok.
  • Strong hands-on understanding of daily social publishing, ideally in reactive, fast-moving environments.
  • Analytical mindset with confidence using data to drive decisions and improve output.
  • Experience leading teams and running day-to-day operations with clear structure and accountability.
  • Excellent editorial judgement with a strong understanding of news, entertainment, sport and pop culture.
  • Calm, organised and decisive, with the ability to impose clarity and rhythm in high-volume environments.

Extra Points

  • Strong awareness of both UK and US social culture and platform behaviours.
  • Experience building content playbooks, publishing standards and editorial guidelines.
  • Interest in AI tools that improve creative output and workflow efficiency.
