Job Description

Contract: Full-time
Location: City of London, United Kingdom
Salary: Not Specified
Company: deverellsmith
Recruiter: Suzanne Grundy

Overview

Our client is a leading design-led furniture rental company serving a diverse client base, including end consumers, estate agents, property developers and build-to-rent operators. Over the next few years, content and social media will be central to how they out-brand and out-content traditional players across London and the Home Counties. They are building a warmer, consumer-grade brand in a category that still feels old-school — offering a flexible, modern alternative to buying outright or settling for generic rental furniture.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you will own the day-to-day social and content output, positioning the brand as the go-to furniture rental name in London. This is a hands-on, creator-led role: you will be behind the camera and behind the posts, out on installs capturing before and after shots, turning delivery days into stories, and bringing designers, drivers and customers to life across Instagram, LinkedIn and more.

You will work closely with interior designers, warehouse and delivery teams, and a performance agency, helping turn the real work done in homes and developments into thoughtful, design-led content that grows the brand and supports the wider marketing plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create & Publish Content
    • Shoot and edit short-form video (Reels, TikTok-style, Shorts) on your work phone, creating social-first content several times a week
    • Capture before/after imagery of installs and styled rooms across London
    • Write clear, engaging captions that feel on-brand — friendly, confident and helpful
    • Turn everyday moments into compelling stories: new installs, styling details, moving days, “how it works” and more
  • Be On Site, Several Times a Week
    • Join installs and shoots across London (and occasionally the Home Counties) to capture before/after room tours, designer walk-throughs, delivery behind-the-scenes, and customer stories
    • Capture internal moments at the warehouse: picking, loading, the team in action
    • Travel is mainly via public transport; a driving licence is a bonus but not essential
  • Plan, Schedule & Manage Channels
    • Own the content calendar for key channels, primarily Instagram and LinkedIn, with tests on TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube Shorts
    • Plan and schedule posts to ensure consistent, on-brand presence
    • Ensure content supports wider marketing activity, launches and campaigns
  • Grow & Nurture the Community
    • Monitor and respond to comments and DMs in a warm, professional tone that reflects the brand
    • Spot opportunities to engage with customers, partners and relevant creators
    • Share audience insights back into the business to keep close to the community
  • Collaborate & Optimise
    • Work closely with the Head of Marketing, interior designers and performance agency to ensure organic and paid content are joined up
    • Help brief freelancers (photographers, videographers, editors) on larger shoots or projects while staying hands-on yourself
    • Track key metrics including follower growth, reach, engagement and leads from social

About You

Essential Experience & Skills
  • 1-3 years in a social media or content role, or demonstrable experience growing your own or someone else’s channels with strong examples
  • A creator at heart — you enjoy making things yourself: filming, editing, shooting and writing
  • Solid understanding of Instagram and LinkedIn, with interest in TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube Shorts
  • Comfortable with tools like Canva, CapCut, basic Adobe tools and scheduling platforms (Meta tools, Later, Planoly or similar)
  • Able to read and report on reach, engagement, follower growth and basic lead metrics
  • Confident writing clear, on-brand captions and copy
Desirable
  • Experience with email marketing or blog content creation
  • Familiarity with interiors, property or lifestyle brands
  • Basic photography skills beyond phone-based content
  • Driving licence (not essential)
Personal Qualities
  • Comfortable being on-site in real homes, warehouses and developments several times a week
  • Happy experimenting, learning from what works and iterating quickly
  • You care as much about telling a good, on-brand story as chasing any single metric
  • Reliable, organised and take responsibility for your work and follow-through
  • Open to feedback, collaborative and happy to muck in where needed
  • A degree is not required. We are more interested in your portfolio and examples of content you have created.

How We’ll Measure Success

  • Consistent, on-brand posting across priority channels, with visible growth in followers and engagement
  • A steady flow of strong before/after stories, designer features and behind-the-scenes content that the wider marketing and sales teams can use
  • Clear improvements in core social metrics: reach, engagement, follower growth and quality leads attributed to social
  • A close, effective working relationship with the Head of Marketing, graphic designer, interior designers and performance agency

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary of £30,000-£40,000 with performance-linked progression
  • Hybrid working with a mix of office/warehouse days, on-site content capture and focused time from home
  • Core hours 9:00-17:30, with flexibility around installs and shoots; no regular expectation of weekend work
  • The opportunity to join at a pivotal moment as the brand refreshes, launches a new site and builds a content engine in a category that has not yet cracked social
  • A collaborative, design-led culture where quality and creativity sit at the heart of everything
