Overview
The Social Shepherd, an award-winning social-first creative and performance agency, is seeking a Social Media Director to join their London team (hybrid, 3 days in office). With offices in Bath, London, and New York, and a growing team of 65+, the agency delivers industry-leading campaigns across organic social, paid media, influencer marketing, creative, and strategy. This full-time role offers a salary of £50,000–£65,000 per annum and an opportunity to lead the strategic direction for high-profile global brands.
Key Focus Areas
Leadership & Strategy
- Define and lead social strategy for a portfolio of clients, ensuring plans align with brand and business goals.
- Act as the senior social voice on client leadership teams, shaping long-term strategy and building trusted client relationships.
- Guide teams to stay ahead of cultural trends and platform innovations, identifying opportunities in real time.
- Drive innovation across the agency’s social offering, including emerging areas such as social SEO.
Execution & Collaboration
- Oversee the delivery of organic and influencer campaigns, ensuring all content is purpose-driven and impactful.
- Collaborate closely with Paid, Influencer, and Creative teams to deliver integrated, high-performing campaigns.
- Use data and insights to optimise content, strategy, and performance across social channels.
- Support new business pitches and shape social strategies that engage and convert prospective clients.
Team Development & Mentorship
- Lead and mentor a team of Social Media Managers and Executives, developing their strategic and creative abilities.
- Provide structure, guidance, and regular feedback to elevate the standard of delivery and innovation.
Skills & Experience
- 7+ years’ experience in social media strategy or management, ideally within an agency environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of organic social, influencer marketing, paid media, and creative production.
- Strong grasp of social trends, platform behaviour, and cultural relevance.
- Confident in presenting strategies and leading senior-level client discussions.
- Experienced team leader with excellent communication, organisation, and coaching skills.
- Commercially aware and data-driven, with a passion for impactful, culturally relevant work.
