The Social Media Lead role is a senior position responsible for driving the growth of Biscuit, Zopa’s current account product, through innovative and effective paid and organic social media strategies. This role requires a blend of creative insight, operational excellence, and cross-functional collaboration to scale Biscuit’s social presence and customer acquisition.

About the Role

  • Lead paid social strategy and ongoing performance optimisation across Meta, TikTok, YouTube and Reddit
  • Run creative test cycles, identify winning patterns quickly and drive continual performance improvement
  • Set the creative direction for social content, ensuring it is platform native, culturally relevant and refreshed appropriately
  • Build a scalable creative system that maintains high output without compromising quality
  • Translate narrative strategy into effective paid testing frameworks that enhance both brand and performance
  • Collaborate closely with digital performance, analytics, marketing, creative, PR, compliance and product marketing teams to align goals and insights
  • Define the role of each social channel across paid and organic, shaping core, emerging and experimental activity
  • Guide organic content direction to build trust, credibility and cultural relevance alongside acquisition objectives
  • Identify cultural signals and platform trends early and convert them into actionable opportunities
  • Oversee community management, ensuring consistent, reputation-safe engagement and managing escalations when necessary
  • Manage agency partners with clear briefs, high creative expectations and disciplined performance oversight
  • Produce clear insights and narratives for weekly and monthly reviews, highlighting successes and areas for improvement
  • Drive experimentation by evaluating new formats, channels and betas, deciding where to test and scale

About You

  • Strong creative capability with sharp platform intuition across Meta, TikTok, Reddit and others
  • Ability to quickly identify what makes content effective, with an eye for behaviours, cultural shifts and emerging formats
  • Commercially minded with a solid understanding of CAC, CTR, CPM, conversion windows and creative decay
  • Motivated by both performance outcomes and brand personality
  • Confident managing paid social at scale, including always-on and campaign cycles
  • Experienced in briefing and holding agencies accountable, making swift and calm optimisation decisions
  • Hands-on knowledge of TikTok Ads Manager, Meta Ads, YouTube performance and mobile app campaigns
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to translate data into compelling narratives
  • Reputation aware, understanding the demands of regulated industries
  • Experienced in social community management, escalation processes or crisis situations

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in fintech or other regulated sectors
  • Ability to produce short-form video or direct creators
  • Familiarity with AI tools for creative production
  • Experience with social listening and publishing platforms such as Hootsuite

Working Arrangements

Zopa values flexible working and a good work-life balance. This hybrid role requires attendance at the London office 2-3 days per week. There is also the option to work from abroad for up to 120 days per year, subject to having the right to work in the chosen country.
