About the Role:
We’re seeking a Social Media Manager with a passion for pop culture, music, and film to join the central social media team. You’ll create social-first video formats, produce engaging shoots, and edit thumb-stopping content for a 16–24 audience. Your work will help audiences discover live radio, music performances, and podcasts through platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Plan, schedule, and develop a regular cadence of social-first video formats for Radio 1’s channels aimed at 16–24-year-olds
- Produce film shoots and edit high-impact content optimized for social media and YouTube
- Ensure content is syndicated across other platforms to maximize reach and engagement
- Collaborate regularly with social media, commissioning, visual radio, and music teams
- Write reports and share insights on project impact with stakeholders
- Ensure all output adheres to the guidelines and that teams and suppliers understand their responsibilities
What You’ll Bring:
- Deep knowledge of pop culture and the content consumed by 16–24-year-old audiences
- Expertise in how social video platforms work and how users discover music and audio
- Experience working with high-profile talent and strong attention to detail
- Proven track record creating campaigns and video formats that engage younger audiences (links/examples required)
- Prior experience as a social media manager, ideating engaging video formats, and directing shoots with talent
- Advanced video and image editing skills (Adobe Creative Suite) to devise or commission social formats for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts
- Familiarity with social media analytics and using data to inform content strategy
- Excellent interpersonal and decision-making skills, with the ability to build credibility and relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders
